Eve Echoes: Module Breakthrough
New feature added on the 2026 04 29 patch. This guide gives more insight on the mechanic.
What Is Breakthrough?
Breakthrough is an action available on some modules that have a chance of adding a positive, or negative, effect. The effect persisits until insurance claim, but does have durability that requires occasional repair.
After a breakthrough the module's structure becomes unstable: it loses Amplification Stability whenever your ship's fire-control system activates or it takes damage in combat. Once the stability drops to zero the module is disabled. You can restore it using Alignment in the fitting screen.
A small + corner triangle appears on the item icon when the module is eligible for breakthrough.
Breakthrough Process

Restoring Attempts - DR Fraud
When your Remaining Breakthrough Attempts reach 0, you can restore the item to its packaged state by reclaiming them from a loss in DR (commonly called DR Fraud).
Warning: For capital modules this means you need to lose a capital ship.

Amplification Stability & Alignment
After a breakthrough, the module's structure is unstable. Every time your ship's fire-control system activates or you take combat damage, the module loses a small amount of Amplification Stability. When stability is too low, the extra breakthrough performance bonus is suspended.
You can restore stability at any time from the fitting screen → Alignment. This keeps the existing attributes. Applying a calibration kit does not change the attributes, it just restores stability.
